Kurt Gödel - digitized resources for scholarship

The unpublished papers of Kurt Gödel are owned by the Institute for Advanced Study and held on deposit at the Princeton University Library Department of Rare Books and Special Collections . A portion of the papers have also been made available via microfilm. Given recent scholarly interest in the notebooks commonly called "Max Phil", containing his philosophical "maxims", these notebooks are available through this website. We welcome your questions and comments.

The notebooks are numbered "0" through "15"; Max notebook 13 seems to have been lost prior to the Institute receiving the papers. Much of the text in these notebooks was written in Gabelsberger shorthand; the digital materials include a copy of the shorthand book Kurt Gödel owned. These scans were made from the Institute's copy of a preservation microfilm made through a Sloan Foundation grant .

Preferred Citation: Kurt Gödel Papers; 1905-1980 (mostly 1930-1970), courtesy of the Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center, Institute for Advanced Study on deposit in the Manuscripts Division, Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, Princeton University Library.
