The papers in the collection date from the 1930's and include official correspondence
of the Director's Office, minutes of meetings of the Faculty and the Board of Trustees,
miscellaneous correspondence concerning past Faculty members, records of the Electronic
Computer Project and other documents. The archives also include the Institute's extensive
photograph collection. Papers of individuals for the most part have been placed elsewhere.
Digital Archives
The digital collection already includes several Electronic Computer Project reports and other documents.
Services
Institute for Advanced Study Archives provides reference service with access to all
non-restricted materials to anyone in the Institute community.
Photocopying is available at twenty cents per copy, as long as the photocopying process
will not harm the items being copied. Photocopying must be done by the archives staff, and
thus an order of more than a few pages may mean a slight delay for the researcher in
obtaining the copies. Duplication of photographs are available to the researcher, assuming
no copyright restrictions apply.
Access
Holdings are available for research, subject to some restrictions placed by offices and
donors. Researchers sign a registration form that includes an agreement to abide by rules
governing use.
Visitors are advised that some form of photographic identification is required for
access to the Institute for Advanced Study Archives.
