Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center

The Shelby White and Leon Levy Archives Center serves as the Institute for Advanced Study's Archives and documents the Institute's history and the many significant people that have shaped it. We welcome inquiries from both within and outside the Institute community.

Our reading room is in the Annex of the Historical Studies-Social Science Library (see the Institute campus map). This space features a display case and exhibits rotate regularly. Our current exhibit includes images and documents related to physicist Freeman Dyson's first visit to the Institute in 1948-1949 and the other physicists here that year.

Staff are available from Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please explore the links at the right for more information on our collections and services, or contact us via one of the methods below.
